Gertrude Cares Foundation is a community-rooted charity that believes every child deserves the chance to learn, grow, and live with dignity. Founded by Ms. Gertrude Tumusiime, the foundation was born out of her powerful story of resilience — a woman who once hustled through Kampala’s busy Kikuubo market but refused to let her humble beginnings define her future.
At 45, Gertrude courageously returned to school, completing her studies up to A-Level and now pursuing a Diploma in Early Childhood Development at Ndejje University. Her journey fuels a mission to ensure that no child is denied education because of poverty.
Through Skylark Junior School, we provide education sponsorships, mentorship, and basic health support to children from underprivileged backgrounds. Each child we support is a step closer to breaking the cycle of poverty and building a future filled with hope.
